A reminder that the deadline for this year's Researching New York Conference Call for Papers  is approaching. As always, we seek proposals on all aspects of New York State History. For 2015, we also encourage proposals that explore the diverse communities of NY-their histories and how they are gathered, preserved, and presented-whether asking "what is a community?" or exploring the experiences of specific communities. Often defined by geography or physical location, communities may also include, or transcend, shared cultural, political, religious, ethnic, racial or gender identities or experiences. From the earliest Natve Americans of New York to the virtual communities of today; how they have evolved, worked together, or challenged each other has profoundly shaped New York history.  Whether as notable historic actors or everyday citizens, how individuals have navigated, often multiple, communities has influenced their accomplishments as well. We ask how do these understandings shape our understanding of New York history, not only in telling the stories of the past, but also helping to engage with diverse communities today.

See submission guidelines on conference website. This annual conference brings together historians, archivists, public historians, graduate students, museum curators, documentarians, and more to share their work on New York State history.
